President Bola Tinubu, on Friday night, received an update on the country’s security situation from the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi, at the State House, Abuja.
A photograph of the meeting released by the Presidency showed the DSS chief briefing the President as part of ongoing national security reviews following a series of violent incidents across the country.
The latest briefing comes on the heels of multiple security breaches, including the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi and Niger States, as well as the deadly attack on worshippers at a church in Kwara State—events that prompted the federal government to order the shutdown of all unity colleges nationwide.
It also follows President Tinubu’s decision to cancel his participation at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, opting instead to remain in Nigeria to coordinate the government’s response to the escalating crisis.
The Presidency says further updates on security measures will be communicated as efforts intensify to protect citizens and restore stability.
