President Bola Tinubu has felicitated former President Goodluck Jonathan on his 68th birthday, commending his enduring contributions to nation-building and democratic governance in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Thursday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu joined family, friends, and political associates in celebrating Jonathan’s milestone, highlighting his humility, simplicity, and statesmanship.
Tinubu particularly lauded Jonathan’s conduct during the 2015 presidential election, noting that his commitment to democratic principles strengthened Nigeria’s democracy and enhanced the nation’s standing on the global stage.
Reflecting on their past interactions, Tinubu recalled Jonathan’s support and counsel, which were instrumental in his own political journey, especially around Jonathan’s rise in 2010 and the 2011 presidential election.
The President further noted that Jonathan’s statesmanship continues to inspire leaders across Nigeria and beyond, particularly in his international diplomatic efforts promoting democratic values in Africa.
Concluding his message, Tinubu prayed for the continued health and well-being of the former president, his wife Patience, and the entire Jonathan family.
