President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending insecurity, announcing that peace has returned to many once-troubled communities in the North-East and North-West regions.
In his nationwide broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day anniversary, the President declared that government efforts in the fight against terrorism and banditry are yielding positive results.
“Peace has returned to hundreds of our liberated communities in the North-East and North-West, with thousands of displaced citizens now safely back in their homes,” Tinubu said. “We are working diligently to strengthen national security, so that our economy can continue to grow and perform better.”
The President praised the armed forces and security agencies for their sacrifices and bravery, noting that they have made significant gains in the fight against insecurity.
“They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and violent crimes,” Tinubu stated. “Their victories are written in their blood and sweat — from stamping out Boko Haram terror in the North-East, to tackling IPOB/ESN violence in the South-East, and confronting banditry and kidnapping across the nation.”
He urged Nigerians to continue honoring the sacrifices of the military and security operatives who risk their lives daily to protect the country.
“We must celebrate their gallantry and salute their courage on behalf of a grateful nation,” the President affirmed.
