President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a request to the Senate seeking confirmation of Victor Ikeji as the Federal Character Commission (FCC) commissioner representing Abia State.
The nomination, communicated in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary, comes in accordance with Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Ikeji’s appointment is intended to replace Obinna Oriaku, who was previously nominated in a letter dated October 9.
In his letter, President Tinubu expressed hope that the Senate would “consider and confirm the appointment of Victor Ikeji as commissioner of the Federal Character Commission.”
The Senate President has referred the letter to the Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Relations, directing the panel to review the nomination and report back within one week.
