Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, has urged political coalition leaders to shelve what he described as a “power-grabbing agenda,” insisting that President Bola Tinubu must be allowed to complete the South’s two-term, eight-year tenure, just as the North did under the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Nwuche made the call at a stakeholders’ meeting he convened in his residence for leaders of Ahoada East and Ahoada West local government areas, held in support of President Tinubu and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike.
The former lawmaker, who brought together stakeholders of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the banner of Team Rivers for Tinubu (TRT), also expressed appreciation to Tinubu and Wike for his appointment as Chairman of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC).
He urged political leaders and citizens alike to rally behind the President for a second term in 2027, stressing that no coalition could derail Tinubu’s re-election. According to him, those agitating for power now are driven by personal ambition rather than genuine commitment to Nigeria’s development.
“Why the desperation for power so soon after leaving office?” Nwuche asked, advising the coalition leaders to wait until after Tinubu completes his eight years.
He further praised the President for consistently supporting Wike with resources and encouragement to deliver on his mandate as FCT Minister. Describing Wike as “an excellent performer,” Nwuche said the former Rivers State governor had already transformed Abuja the same way he revitalized Rivers State during his tenure.
