As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, President Bola Tinubu has unveiled a strategic committee within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to manage internal disputes and consolidate party strength.
The Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation was inaugurated on Wednesday in Lagos as part of efforts to promote unity, stability and effective coordination within the ruling party.
The committee comprises serving governors, members of the Federal Executive Council and other senior party stakeholders.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Buni thanked President Tinubu and the party leadership for the confidence reposed in the committee, pledging that members would discharge their responsibilities with diligence, fairness and a strong sense of duty.
He said the committee would engage widely with party stakeholders to develop practical and inclusive frameworks for resolving disputes, restoring confidence among aggrieved members and strengthening internal cohesion.
According to him, the committee will also work to identify emerging challenges within the party and adopt proactive measures to prevent conflicts, urging members to place the collective interest of the APC above personal considerations.
The inauguration follows President Tinubu’s earlier call for unity and tolerance at the APC’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting held on December 19 in Abuja, where he warned that internal divisions could undermine the party’s democratic ideals and electoral prospects.
Tinubu had stressed that inclusiveness, mutual respect and internal cohesion remain central to the APC’s founding principles as it positions itself for future electoral contests.
