Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Friday led a powerful coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders to formally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
The endorsement, held in Edo Central, was announced in a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua. The gathering brought together major political heavyweights, including Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa; former Governor and Senator, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole; and the Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Abubakar Momoh, among other influential figures.
The event also featured the ceremonial reception of notable decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), marking a renewed wave of unity and momentum within the APC as the 2027 elections draw closer.
Dignitaries at the event included Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku; former Deputy Governor, Chief Pius Odubu; Senator Mathew Urhoghide; Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; APC State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe; and Retired General Cecil Isegaigbe, who leads the Edo Central senatorial district.
Addressing the excited crowd, Governor Okpebholo expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to Edo State, especially in infrastructure development.
“I want to thank Mr. President for what he is doing for the people of Edo. We will let him know that we are completely for him here,” the governor said.
He highlighted the recent approval of key road projects—particularly the Agbor Road—after his meeting in Abuja with federal officials.
“When I raised the road infrastructure challenge, the Minister of Works immediately came for an inspection. Now the Agbor Road and other critical projects have been approved. In a few weeks, you will see caterpillars on site. The President does not even need to campaign here because we have already done the work,” Okpebholo added.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to remain closely connected to his roots, assuring the people that service will continue to guide his leadership—both now and after his tenure.
In his remarks, Senator Adams Oshiomhole commended both President Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo for promoting stability and development across the state.
Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Abubakar Momoh, also hailed President Tinubu’s leadership, describing his administration as the most reform-driven in Nigeria’s history.
“No administration since independence has introduced reforms as impactful as President Tinubu’s. These reforms will set Nigeria on a path toward sustainable growth,” he said.
Retired General Cecil Isegaigbe moved the motion for the formal adoption of President Tinubu as the APC’s consensus candidate for 2027—a motion seconded by Senator Joe Ikpea and unanimously supported by Senator Oshiomhole and other party leaders.
To boost mobilisation efforts, four campaign buses were donated through the Office of the Special Adviser on Youths to coordinators across Edo North, Edo Central, and Edo South.
The new APC entrants from the PDP and LP, led by Hon. Emmanuel Okoduwa, Hon. Patrick Iluobe, Ehime Edangbe, and Hon. Anthony Iselobho, pledged full loyalty to the party and committed to working vigorously for President Tinubu’s re-election.
With Friday’s endorsement, Governor Okpebholo has firmly positioned Edo APC as a united and energized force solidly behind President Tinubu’s 2027 ambition—signaling strengthened cohesion, revived confidence, and heightened political momentum across the state.
