President Bola Tinubu has conveyed his deepest condolences to British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua following a tragic road accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway that claimed two lives.
The accident, which occurred earlier this week, involved Joshua’s convoy. Reports indicate that the victims were close associates and members of Joshua’s support team, who were travelling with him at the time of the crash. Joshua himself sustained injuries in the incident.
In a personal message issued on Monday, President Tinubu described the event as a heartbreaking tragedy and expressed solidarity with Joshua and his family as they mourn the loss of their companions.
The President praised Joshua’s courage, discipline, and patriotism, recognizing him as a sportsman whose achievements have brought pride to Nigeria. He urged Nigerians to show unity and support in moments of grief, highlighting the importance of standing together as a nation.
Tinubu prayed for strength, wisdom, and healing for Joshua, wished him a swift recovery, and asked God to grant eternal rest to the victims of the accident.
