President Bola Tinubu has congratulated renowned economist, banker, and philanthropist, Tony Elumelu, on his 63rd birthday.
Elumelu, who turns 63 on March 22, 2026, is the chairman of Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa, and Transcorp, as well as the founder of Tony Elumelu Foundation.
In a statement issued by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Elumelu as an African business icon and a leading advocate of enterprise development across the continent.
Tinubu commended Elumelu’s resilience, commitment to excellence, and strong belief in Africapitalism—his philosophy that emphasises private sector-driven economic growth and long-term investments in Africa.
The President also highlighted the impact of the Tony Elumelu Foundation’s entrepreneurship programme, which has trained over 2.5 million young Africans across 54 countries and supported more than 24,000 entrepreneurs with $5,000 non-refundable seed capital each.
He praised Elumelu’s dedication to youth empowerment and his role in fostering innovation and economic inclusion across Africa.
Tinubu joined family, friends, and associates in wishing the business leader continued good health, strength, and success in his endeavours.
