The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to address Nigeria’s worsening security challenges, saying the issue is not insurmountable and is already receiving the President’s attention.
Speaking on Friday after a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the traditional ruler described insecurity as the country’s most pressing problem, noting that fear has spread across both rural and urban areas.
“Insecurity remains our major challenge. Farmers are afraid to go to their farms, and people are increasingly apprehensive about going about their daily activities. This concern is no longer limited to one region; it is spreading to the South,” Ladoja said.
Despite the situation, he expressed optimism that the problem could be resolved. “I do not believe it is insurmountable. We have confidence that the President is actively tackling it,” he added.
Ladoja said his visit was to thank President Tinubu for his support, explaining that he had been eager to pay the courtesy visit since his coronation as the Olubadan of Ibadanland in September 2025.
Reflecting on Tinubu’s leadership record, the former Oyo State governor pointed to the President’s tenure as governor of Lagos State, where he said Tinubu successfully transformed the state’s economic fortunes.
Describing Nigeria as a complex nation, Ladoja expressed confidence that Tinubu’s experience would translate into meaningful national progress. He added that by the time the President leaves office in 2031, Nigeria would be in a better position than it is today.
