Popular Nigerian TikToker Perry Blink has spoken candidly about his struggles with mental health, revealing how fame, online pressure, and loss of genuine relationships took a toll on his wellbeing.
In a heartfelt post shared on social media, the father of one described his journey from being a thriving creator to battling depression, isolation, and suicidal thoughts.
He explained that the pressures of maintaining collaborations, facing online criticism, and losing close friendships within the content creation space left him feeling abandoned.
“The first step of starting over is to admit everything that happened to you was your fault. I’m not blaming anyone, everyone got up for themselves, and I’m happy for them,” he wrote. “But while they were growing, I played a vital role in their lives through collaborations and connections. Now, how many of them do you see with me?”
Perry Blink lamented that many creators he had helped in the past now distance themselves from him, despite his efforts to stay in touch.
He recalled being mocked after getting married and starting a family, and said that personal setbacks, including being robbed, losing his equipment in a fire, and struggling financially, deepened his sense of isolation.
“My relationship was ruined. I was depressed, isolated, and scared because even fans were bashing me while I was just trying to balance things for myself,” he shared. “I had tried to hurt myself several times but still find myself here.”
The content creator urged aspiring influencers to focus on their craft rather than building relationships based solely on collaborations.
“When you think you’re making friends, they may just be using you for opportunities,” he warned. “The moment you actually need them, everywhere becomes silent and dark.”
Perry Blink concluded by reaffirming his commitment to healing and staying alive for his son, calling on the public to show compassion.
“I have to stay alive for my son. My relationship was not the first to fall apart, and I’m not the first to fall off at the peak of a career,” he said, ending his post with the hashtags #suicidethoughts and #depressed.
His post has since drawn mixed reactions online, with many fans expressing empathy and urging him to seek professional help.
