Popular TikTok content creator Peller has spoken publicly for the first time following his arrest and brief detention by the Lagos State Police Command over an alleged suicide attempt and dangerous driving.
In a video shared after the incident, the influencer apologised to Nigerians and expressed regret over his actions, assuring the public that such behaviour would not be repeated. He disclosed that he is currently undergoing medical treatment and would resume online activity after completing his medication.
The police had earlier confirmed that Peller was taken into custody after his actions were deemed a deliberate attempt to harm himself while also placing other road users at risk.
According to police accounts, the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, when Peller was seen driving recklessly along the Lekki-Epe Expressway while livestreaming the act on social media. The stunt reportedly led to a serious road traffic crash, prompting intervention by law enforcement.
Investigations also linked the episode to emotional distress following the end of Peller’s relationship with his former partner, Jarvis. Jarvis had previously announced their breakup, citing challenges with emotional regulation as a key reason for her decision.
The Lagos State Police Command disclosed that the case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, adding that Peller will be charged to court upon the conclusion of inquiries.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, cautioned social media influencers and content creators against promoting reckless or unlawful conduct online, stressing that digital popularity does not place individuals above the law.
Police authorities reiterated their commitment to safeguarding public safety and warned that any actions endangering lives, whether online or offline, would attract appropriate legal consequences.
