Popular TikTok influencer and livestreamer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has been hospitalised following a car crash involving his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz in Lagos.
The incident occurred on Sunday along the Lekki-Epe Expressway while the content creator was broadcasting live on Instagram in a session titled “RIP Peller.” Videos from the livestream have since circulated widely across social media platforms.
In the footage, Peller appeared emotionally distressed while driving alone. He was seen crying and engaging in a tense phone conversation, reportedly linked to relationship issues with his girlfriend and fellow content creator, Jarvis, amid reports of a possible breakup.
During the livestream, the influencer made several alarming remarks, expressing fear, emotional pain, and concerns about public ridicule if the relationship ended. At different moments, he suggested he might deliberately cause an accident, while also stating he did not want to endanger others.
Shortly after these statements, the video captured the moment the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a barrier, causing significant damage to the luxury car.
Eyewitnesses and bystanders reportedly rushed to assist Peller at the scene before he was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. While his rescue and hospitalisation have been confirmed, details regarding the extent of his injuries have not been officially disclosed.
Peller and Jarvis have previously drawn public attention for their turbulent relationship, which has involved online disputes, allegations, reconciliations, and leaked conversations. Renewed speculation about another breakup is believed to have contributed to the emotional episode that preceded the crash.
Reactions online have been divided. Many social media users expressed concern about Peller’s mental health and called for compassion, while others questioned whether the incident was exaggerated or staged, citing his history of viral and dramatic content.
The crash has also raised broader concerns about public safety. Some Nigerians have urged authorities, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, particularly the dangers of livestreaming while driving.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by Peller, Jarvis, or relevant safety agencies regarding the crash or its aftermath.
