A tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has left three people dead and two others injured, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
The fatal collision, involving three vehicles, occurred near the Secretariat, in the direction of the Otedola Bridge.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, LASTMA confirmed: “Three vehicles were involved in the collision, resulting in three fatalities and several serious injuries.”
Emergency responders from LASAMBUS were quickly deployed to the scene, providing urgent medical care to the injured. LASTMA officials and personnel of the Nigerian Police Force were also on ground to manage traffic and maintain order.
The agency said efforts were ongoing to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow, urging motorists to drive with caution around the affected area.
Preliminary findings indicate that the crash occurred when an Audi car (registration number YAB 742 CN), heading towards Berger, rammed into a slow-moving truck near the Secretariat.
The impact caused severe damage to the Audi, leaving it extensively crushed and classified as a total write-off. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
