Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has praised centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes for his crucial contribution in the Gunners’ 4–0 UEFA Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.
Henry credited the Brazilian defender for “unlocking the situation” after a goalless first half at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal broke through in the second half, with Magalhaes opening the scoring before Gabriel Martinelli and Viktor Gyokeres (who netted twice) sealed a commanding win for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Speaking on CBS Sports, Henry said:
“Yes, I wanted a statement performance and a statement win. But once again, the guy that unlocks the situation is the centre-back, Gabriel Magalhaes.”
The Gunners will next turn their attention to the Premier League, where they face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
