Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has voiced his confidence to midfielder Declan Rice, insisting that Mikel Arteta’s side are capable of winning a major trophy this season.
Henry made the remarks following Arsenal’s 3-1 triumph over Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Jurrien Timber, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Martinelli secured the victory, strengthening the Gunners’ position in the UEFA Champions League.
“I will be honest with you [Declan Rice] there is something different this year,” Henry told Rice during an interview.
“Before, I used to say that Arsenal can win because I am a fan. Now I say it without my Arsenal hat on.
“The way Arsenal look as a team, as a unit, is different. There is something that is happening.”
Last season, Arsenal fell short of major silverware, exiting the Champions League in the knockout stage and finishing second in the Premier League behind Liverpool. Henry’s comments reflect growing optimism that the current squad could go one step further this campaign.
