Nigerian music video director ThankGod Omori, widely known as TG Omori, has claimed his life is being threatened following the backlash that trailed his recent comments on same-sex relationships.
The filmmaker drew criticism over the weekend after posting on X that “having same gender sex is evil,” a statement that quickly stirred heated reactions across social media.
In a new post shared on Tuesday, Omori alleged that he has been receiving death threats since a digital magazine published an article about the controversy. He accused the platform of intentionally putting him at risk by misrepresenting his intentions.
“This is a media house trying to set me up and risk my life by gaslighting a global community they serve to blacklist me for speaking my truth in accordance to the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria,” he wrote.
According to him, the situation escalated after the magazine suggested he was leveraging the controversy to market eyewear. “Death threats and wishes have been sent to me day n night, threatening my safety n security as a citizen, since after this article was published by @Zikoko_Mag,” he added.
The director did not state whether the threats had been reported to security agencies, but he maintained that the narrative pushed by the publication had worsened the hostility directed at him.
The magazine has yet to publicly respond to Omori’s claims.
