Nigerian singer Terry G has reacted to viral reports claiming he is dead, describing them as false and urging the public to stop spreading such news.
In a video shared on his now-deleted Instagram post, the Akpako Master addressed both the death rumour and the controversy surrounding his recent comments about “serving the devil.”
Speaking in Pidgin English, the singer said his phone had been flooded with calls from people checking on him after online posts falsely announced his death.
“How una dey my people? Social media, ma pami now,” he said. “My phone has been buzzing since morning. People have been calling to check on me because they saw something online saying Terry G don die. I beg whoever is trending that news to stop. I’m doing very fine. Please stop that, I beg you in the name of God.”
Terry G also addressed his widely circulated remark from The Honest Bunch podcast, where he said, “I sing for the devil. I’m falling short of the glory of God.”
Clarifying his words, the singer appeared to double down on the claim, saying his fame came from worldly influences rather than divine help.
“Una no know before? Una no know say na the devil I dey serve? Yes, na devil I dey serve. Na devil make me blow (popular),” he said.
The video has sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans expressing shock while others viewed the statement as a reflection of the struggles many artists face balancing fame, faith, and personal beliefs.
Terry G, known for his eccentric personality and hit songs in the late 2000s, has yet to issue a follow-up statement clarifying whether his latest comments were literal or metaphorical.
