Security forces are investigating a deadly attack in Ngoshe, Gwoza, where suspected insurgents targeted a military position and civilians.

The assault reportedly occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Borno State, when armed attackers stormed a military base before moving into the community.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants operated for hours, using motorcycles and armed vehicles, during which several residents were killed and others abducted.
The Borno State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that while troops repelled the attackers, some civilians were affected and remain missing.
Police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, said preliminary reports suggest that some victims may have been taken towards the Mandara Mountains , adding that efforts were ongoing to determine the exact number of casualties and abductees.
He also clarified that claims regarding the death of a local religious leader had not been confirmed.
Security sources said military forces have since taken control of the area to restore order, while residents reported that some structures were set ablaze during the attack, forcing many families to flee.
Authorities say investigations are continuing as more details emerge.
