Nollywood actress Teniola Aladese has shared the story of how she discovered her passion for acting, tracing her journey from an initial desire to pursue law.
Speaking on the WithChude podcast, Aladese revealed that her early ambition was to become a lawyer. However, reading a book by Christopher Darden, one of the prosecutors in the O.J. Simpson case, convinced her that the legal field was not her calling.
“After finishing the book, I realized I couldn’t handle the weight of losing a case or seeing the perspectives of lawyers on both sides,” she explained.
Turning to her backup plan, Aladese gravitated toward acting, inspired by Nigerian screen icons Genevieve Nnaji and Regina Askia. She pursued a degree in Mass Communication as a safety net, considering a career in news anchoring if acting didn’t pan out.
Aladese admitted that it wasn’t until her secondary school years that she fully embraced her love for performance. “I didn’t know I wanted to act until SS2. I decided to study Mass Communication just in case acting didn’t work out, but I knew my heart was drawn to the craft,” she said.
The actress’s story highlights the importance of exploring different paths while remaining true to one’s passion, a journey that has now made her one of Nollywood’s notable talents.
