Nigerian global music star Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has shared what her life might have looked like if she never pursued a career in music.
During a fan Q&A session on X on Tuesday, a follower asked the Grammy winner what alternative career path she would have chosen if music had not worked out.
Tems replied that she would likely have become an accountant or a mathematics teacher, noting her strong interest in numbers.
Before her rise to fame, the singer worked as a digital marketer but resigned from the job in January 2018 to focus fully on her craft. She released her debut single, Mr Rebel, later that year, a track that introduced her unique sound to the Nigerian music scene.
Her breakthrough arrived in 2020 when she appeared on Wizkid’s hit single Essence. The global success of the song, especially its remix featuring Justin Bieber, propelled her to international recognition, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Tems has since become one of the most influential voices in contemporary Afrobeats, earning multiple international awards and accolades.
