Media personality and comedian Teju Oyelakin, popularly known as Teju Babyface, has advised men not to confess infidelity to their spouses, warning that doing so could bring more harm than healing.
In a video shared online, Teju argued that such confessions are often motivated by guilt rather than genuine honesty. He said partners who admit to cheating are typically seeking relief for themselves, not considering the impact on their spouses.
“If honesty were your greatest strength, then you would at least be honest with yourself as to why you want to confess. The reason you want to confess is not because you are honest. The weight of guilt is killing you, and you are trying to share it with somebody else,” he explained.
According to him, these disclosures may even sabotage relationships, as most partners react with anger and hurt, often leading to breakups.
Teju also drew a distinction between spiritual and human confession, stressing that the biblical principle of confession and forgiveness applies to God, not necessarily to a partner. “Excuse me, that is to God and from God, not to man. It is confession to God, not to man. Do not do it,” he said.
He urged individuals to reflect deeply on their motives before choosing to confess, asking them to consider what they hope to achieve. “What exactly are you trying to achieve with your confession? People convince themselves they are being honest, but in reality, the benefits are theirs alone,” he added.
The entertainer’s remarks have sparked conversations online, with many weighing the delicate balance between transparency and the survival of relationships.
