Greek authorities have confirmed the death of Dana Eden, co-creator of the Emmy-winning Israeli spy thriller series Tehran. Eden, 52, was found late Sunday in her hotel room near Syntagma Square in central Athens, according to Greek police.
A police spokesperson told AFP that an autopsy has been ordered and surveillance footage reviewed. “Everything seems to indicate it was a suicide,” the official added.
On Location for Tehran Season Four
Eden had arrived in Athens on February 4 to begin shooting the fourth season of Tehran, broadcast internationally on Apple TV. The first three seasons, which followed a Mossad agent undercover in Iran, were also filmed in Athens.
Production of the latest season had previously been delayed following the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023, and subsequent bombardments in Gaza.

Dana Eden co-founded Donna and Shula Productions with producer Shula Spiegel, driving the success of Tehran and other television projects. The series has become one of Israel’s most internationally sold productions and won the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series in 2021.
Israeli Culture Minister Miki Zohar paid tribute on social media, calling Eden “one of the most prominent and influential producers in the Israeli television industry.”
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
