Reality TV personality Tope Adenibuyan, widely known as Teddy A, has spoken candidly about the emotional impact of false allegations accusing him of abusing his wife, actress Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate addressed the issue during a recent appearance on the WithChude Podcast, where he recalled how the claims first surfaced and the distress they caused his family.
According to Teddy A, reports circulated on social media alleging that he physically abused his wife, including during her pregnancy. He described the claims as shocking and completely untrue.
Recounting the day he became aware of the rumours, Teddy A said he had woken up to find his wife relaxed and watching a movie at home. At the time, Bambam was pregnant and in good spirits, making the allegations even more confusing.
It was only after checking his phone that he realised something was wrong, as notifications and comments began flooding in. As he scrolled through social media reactions, the gravity of the situation became clear, leaving both him and his wife visibly shaken.
He said Bambam became emotional and repeatedly asked who could have started such a story, adding that he had no idea where the claims originated from.
Teddy A revealed that he initially sought advice from his manager, who suggested staying silent and allowing the controversy to fade. At the time, he believed this was the best approach.
However, he later realised that remaining quiet had unintended consequences. According to him, the allegations have continued to resurface online, influencing how some members of the public perceive him.
He noted that even when he and his wife share moments from their lives on social media, some commenters still reference the false claims, questioning his character and behaviour.
Teddy A said the experience affected him deeply, as it shaped a narrative about him that was far from the truth. He stressed that the allegations not only caused emotional distress but also left a lasting mark on his reputation.
The interview has since sparked conversations about the impact of misinformation on public figures and the long-term consequences of unverified claims shared online.
