The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully conducted a clearance operation to remove structures encroaching on the new Ihovbor–Ajaokuta 330kV Transmission Line in Ihovbor Community, Edo State.
The exercise took place from Wednesday, February 18, to Friday, February 20, 2026.
The primary goal of this two-day operation was to reclaim TCN’s Right of Way (ROW) along the transmission corridor, ensuring the safety and functionality of critical power infrastructure.
Prior to the clearance, TCN organized sensitization programs to educate the community about the dangers associated with encroachment on transmission lines.
The company also issued a three-month notice to the host community and provided compensation to those affected by the clearance.
A team from TCN’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, in collaboration with the Property Department, led the clearance effort.
In preparation for the operation, traditional rulers, youth leaders, and other community stakeholders were informed and engaged, ensuring transparency and cooperation.
This proactive initiative by TCN is pivotal in protecting lives and properties while maintaining the integrity of essential power infrastructure along the transmission corridor.
The company remains committed to fostering safe and efficient electricity distribution in Nigeria.
