The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has dismissed a viral social media report alleging that the institution was shut down following a supposed bandit invasion in Ijebu-Ode.
In a statement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dapo Oke, the university described the circulating claims as “malicious, misleading, and aimed at creating unwarranted panic within the university and across the state.”
The false reports had suggested that students were ordered to vacate their hostels due to a security breach in the town.
However, TASUED management clarified that no such directive was ever issued, adding that neither Ijebu-Ode nor the university’s Ijagun campus has experienced any security threat or attack.
“There was never a closure of the institution, nor were students asked to leave their hostels. The environment in Ijebu-Ode and Ijagun remains peaceful and safe,” Oke stated.
He reassured students, parents, staff, alumni, and the general public that academic and administrative activities were fully ongoing, stressing that the safety and welfare of students remain the university’s foremost priority.
The institution urged the public to disregard the fake reports and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of inciting fear or disrupting campus activities.
“All staff and students are advised to continue their academic and lawful duties without anxiety,” the statement added.
TASUED further advised the public to rely strictly on its official communication channels for accurate and credible updates.
