Reality TV star and influencer Tacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has expressed interest in joining politics, citing her desire to promote good governance and contribute to nation-building.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Pidgin, Tacha explained that politics plays a crucial role in shaping citizens’ daily lives, stressing that even a single government policy can significantly impact people’s welfare.
“People always say after God, it’s politics, and truly, one policy from the government can make or break you. At the end of the day, it makes sense to get involved,” she said.
The former Big Brother Naija star said her motivation stems from a belief that real change comes from active participation rather than constant criticism of the system.
“I feel like if you keep complaining about something, it only makes sense to get involved and maybe make certain decisions that’ll make things easier for people,” Tacha stated.
She added that while she may not yet be in a position to make political decisions, she intends to use her influence and online platforms to advocate for accountability and transparency in governance.
“Politics is something I’m passionate about, but like I said, I’m not the one making the decisions. However, I’ll just keep using my platform to push for good governance and hold our leaders accountable,” she said.
Tacha, who has built a strong following as a social commentator and entrepreneur, is among a growing number of Nigerian celebrities using their platforms to raise awareness about political participation and social responsibility.
