Reality TV star and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has revealed that her decision to hold her Guinness World Record attempt for the most makeovers done in 24 hours in Lagos was driven by her desire to promote Nigeria’s creativity and entrepreneurial energy.
Speaking during a chat with influencer Egungun at her Tacha Beauty Festival, the former Big Brother Naija housemate explained that although she received sponsorship offers from international brands and initially planned to host the event in London, she ultimately chose Nigeria to ensure her country shared in the spotlight.
“London won’t give me the vibes I want,” she said. “I had sponsorship offers from international brands and we initially planned to do it in London. But it always makes sense to carry your country along.”
The 24-hour record attempt began on Saturday night in Lagos, with Tacha aiming to complete 150 makeovers within the timeframe.
By Sunday morning, she had already achieved 115 makeovers in 12 hours, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 113 makeovers completed in 24 hours.
The challenge was part of the Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day event running from October 10 to 12, celebrating beauty, culture, and resilience within Nigeria’s rapidly growing creative industry.
Tacha’s initiative has drawn widespread praise from fans and industry stakeholders who commended her for using her platform to amplify Nigerian talent and redefine global standards of creativity.
