Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped one spot in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings released on Thursday, slipping from 44th to 45th place.
The three-time African champions also fell to sixth position on the continent. Morocco remain Africa’s highest-ranked team in 11th place globally, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Cote d’Ivoire.
Nigeria recently faced Rwanda and South Africa in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, defeating the Amavubi 1-0 in Uyo before holding Bafana Bafana to a 1-1 draw in Bloemfontein.
Globally, European champions Spain overtook Argentina to claim the number-one spot, ending the Albiceleste’s two-year reign. Slovakia were the biggest climbers, moving up 10 places.
