The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to resume training after boycotting a session on Tuesday over unpaid allowances owed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The players and officials reportedly skipped their evening training due to the NFF’s failure to settle allowances for qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 World Cup playoff.
On Wednesday, the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, announced that the matter has been settled.
According to him, the issues have been “resolved” and the team would “return to training by 5 pm.”
Although the exact details of the agreement between the players and the football administrators were not disclosed, the development appears to have calmed tensions within the squad.
In a tweet on X, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong confirmed that the team’s concerns had been addressed, stating that players are “as before, focused on the games ahead.”
The Super Eagles will face Gabon in one of the semi-final fixtures of the 2026 African World Cup playoffs on Thursday.
The winner of the encounter will take on either Congo DR or Cameroon in the final for a chance to represent Africa at the intercontinental playoff.
