The Super Eagles’ proposed international friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia are now expected to be called off following Nigeria’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.
Nigeria secured their playoff spot after a commanding 4–0 win over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Tuesday night.
The team was originally scheduled to face Venezuela on November 14, with a follow-up clash against Colombia four days later.
However, the new playoff fixtures have created a scheduling conflict, as Éric Chelle’s side is set to meet Gabon in the semi-final of the playoffs on Thursday, November 13.
Should the Super Eagles advance, they will play the winner of the Cameroon versus DR Congo tie in the final for a place in the intercontinental playoffs.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to make an official announcement regarding the cancellation or rescheduling of the friendly matches in the coming days.
