The Super Eagles have been rewarded with a goal bonus of $120,000 following their dominant 4-1 victory over Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff semi-final.
The payout, according to reports, was jointly facilitated by the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) and partners from the private sector.
This financial incentive formed part of the commitments made to the players to settle the pay dispute that led the Super Eagles to embark on a brief strike on Tuesday. The bonus was one of the assurances given to ensure the team returned to full preparation ahead of the crucial encounter.
With the dispute resolved and Nigeria advancing to the playoff final, the players are now poised to earn an even larger performance bonus if they secure victory against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Sunday’s final showdown.
The decisive fixture against the Leopards is scheduled to take place at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat. Kick-off time is set for 8pm (Nigerian time) as Eric Chelle’s men push for a place in the Intercontinental Playoffs.
