The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Uyo ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash against the Benin Republic on Tuesday.
Their safe arrival was confirmed in a post on Sunday via the X handle of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
According to the post, the team touched down at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, at 8:05 a.m. local time.
“The @NGSuperEagles have finally arrived Uyo after a delay in Luanda, Angola, due to issues with the aircraft conveying them back home after the win over Lesotho. Now to get one over Benin! Yes. We can,” the NFF wrote.
The team’s journey was delayed for over 24 hours following a mid-air emergency involving their chartered ValueJet aircraft. The same plane had earlier flown part of the delegation to Polokwane on Thursday night for the game against Lesotho, which they won 2–1 on Friday.
Nigeria will face Benin Republic on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, as they continue their push to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
