The scouting department of Sunshine Stars has undergone a significant leadership change following the formal resignation of Shina Adeoye. The Chief Scout officially communicated his departure to the Nigeria National League (NNL) outfit’s management on Thursday, marking the end of his tenure with the Akure-based club.
In his official correspondence, Adeoye explained that the decision to vacate his post was driven by a need to prioritize other individual and career-related obligations. He noted that these responsibilities would impede his ability to maintain the high standard of performance required for the scouting role at the club.
As articulated in his resignation notice: “I write to formally notify the management of my decision to step aside from my position as Chief Scout of Sunshine Stars Football Club, Akure,” the statement detailed. “This decision has become necessary in order to attend to some pressing personal and professional commitments relating to my football career, which may not allow me to effectively discharge my duties in this role.”
This administrative shift arrives during a period of reflection for the “Owena Waves,” who recently fell short in their primary objective of returning to the top flight of Nigerian football. The club’s failure to secure a promotion ticket to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has prompted a transitional phase, of which Adeoye’s exit is the latest development. Management will now be tasked with identifying a successor to oversee their talent identification and recruitment strategy ahead of the next campaign.
