Sunmbo Adeoye, wife of Pastor David Adeoye, has spoken candidly about her previous relationship with music star 2Baba and the lessons she drew from that chapter of her life.
In a recent interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown on her talk show, Adeoye said she refused to let past experiences dictate her future.
“That season taught me that God has a plan for everyone, but I chose not to equate a bad decision with a bad life,” she said.
According to her, personal transformation began when she gained clarity about her purpose and strengthened her faith.
“When you understand purpose, your pain will have a meaning,” she explained, noting that this mindset allowed her to reinterpret difficult experiences as part of a broader journey rather than permanent setbacks.
Adeoye also spoke warmly about her marriage to Pastor David Adeoye, describing her husband as a blessing rather than a “rescue mission.”
“My husband was not on a rescue mission, and I wasn’t trying to prove a point,” she said. “My husband was my divine compensation, orchestrated by God. It is the grace of God that allows it to outlast the gossip.”
She added that surrendering control and trusting God helped her navigate uncertain seasons in her life.
“I threw away the Google Map and said, ‘God, just navigate my journey the way you want it to be,’” she stated.
Addressing criticism and public reactions to her past, Adeoye admitted that it was painful when some people left their church because of the attention surrounding her story.
She said the hurt was tied more to responsibility than reputation, explaining that leadership involves deep personal investment in people’s lives.
However, she acknowledged that not everyone connected to one’s past is meant to remain in the future. According to her, some who left have since returned and were welcomed back.
Her reflections highlight themes of faith, resilience, and personal growth amid public scrutiny.
