Nollywood actor Stanley Ontop has demanded the arrest of actress and producer Peggy Ovire following the emergence of CCTV footage allegedly showing her assaulting fellow actor Taye Arimoro.
The footage, which surfaced online early Thursday, intensified public debate after Peggy denied the allegation, insisting instead that Arimoro assaulted her driver. Her claims were contradicted by the video now circulating widely on social media.
Reacting to the development, Ontop took to Instagram to call for urgent police intervention. Tagging the Nigeria Police Force, he stated that no actor should be subjected to intimidation or violence on set.
According to him, Arimoro sustained injuries after refusing to continue filming past midnight because his contract hours with the producer had ended. Ontop alleged that rather than negotiate, Peggy and her driver physically attacked the actor.
“Peggy should be in police custody as we speak for a case of assault,” he wrote, urging the Lagos State Police Command to take swift action. He added that the CCTV clip clearly showed Peggy and members of her crew surrounding Arimoro’s vehicle in what he described as an attempt to further assault him.
Arimoro had earlier gone public with the allegation in a series of videos posted on Wednesday, accusing Peggy and her team of beating him during a movie shoot, a claim the actress initially denied.
The incident continues to spark widespread outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for a transparent investigation by law enforcement.
