Bobby Williams Adeoye, son of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi, has spoken publicly about his mother’s passing, revealing that her death did not come as a complete shock to him because she often spoke about it while she was alive.
Adeoye made the emotional disclosure during a service of songs held in honour of the gospel artiste, where he paid tribute to her life, character, and unwavering dedication to his upbringing and success.
Describing his mother as loving, caring, and resilient, he said she devoted her life to ensuring he excelled both academically and personally. He recalled how deeply invested she was in his daily experiences, always eager to hear about his day whenever he returned from school.
According to him, Omije Ojumi’s warmth extended beyond discipline and sacrifice. He said her cheerful personality and sense of humour filled their home with laughter, a quality he now misses deeply.
Adeoye noted that although losing her has been painful, her frequent references to death while alive prepared him, in some way, for the loss. He said she often used jokes and light-hearted conversations to keep people around her emotionally uplifted.
In a heartfelt message during the tribute, he said his mother remains alive in his heart and dreams, expressing enduring love and gratitude for her sacrifices.
Omije Ojumi, whose real name was Bunmi Akinaanu Adeoye, passed away on January 12, 2026. She is remembered for her contributions to gospel music and her commitment to motherhood, leaving behind a legacy of faith, music, and personal sacrifice.
Her death has continued to draw public attention, with family members and admirers reflecting on her life and impact within and beyond the gospel music community.
