Liverpool manager Arne Slot has admitted his side lacked the ability to respond after falling behind in their 3–0 Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Two first-half goals from Ismaila Sarr and a second-half strike by Yeremy Pino sealed Palace’s victory, while Liverpool youngster Amara Nallo was sent off in the closing stages.
Speaking after the match, Slot acknowledged that his team struggled to mount a comeback once they went two goals down.
“If you manage Liverpool, you know the pressure is there. I don’t think it has changed much after this loss,” Slot said.
“But if it did, then maybe the most positive thing about tonight was the position we were in — 2-0 down — and we weren’t really pushing for a goal because we weren’t able to.”
Liverpool, who have now suffered six defeats in their last seven matches, will turn their focus to the Premier League as they prepare to face Aston Villa on Saturday.
