Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has been arrested and allegedly assaulted by police following a reported dispute with his baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple.
The musician was taken into custody on Saturday, a week after reportedly evading an earlier arrest. The initial police involvement came after Ashabi Simple and her siblings filed a complaint against him for assault, according to journalists.
A video that surfaced on social media on Sunday evening shows Portable in handcuffs, visibly distressed and alleging that he was tortured while in police custody. The footage quickly went viral, sparking outrage across social media platforms.
