The Ministry of Tourism has lauded the sustained growth in domestic tourism, driven by the rise of short-term rentals, festivals, and road trips.
Short-term stays, popularly known as B&Bs, are estimated to have increased Kenya’s bed capacity to more than 6 million. The ministry now records over 2.5 million Kenyans as domestic tourists, a shift that is helping reduce over-reliance on international visitors.
During the launch of this year’s Kenya Tourism and Wildlife Week, the ministry noted that 75% of inbound tourists visit the country to view wildlife, making it a key pillar of Kenya’s tourism offering.
