Shooting Stars Sports Club has reinforced its technical bench by bringing back former team captain, Waheed Omololu, who has now been appointed as part of the coaching staff. His new role will see him collaborate closely with Nurudeen Aweroro, the club’s current technical adviser.
Omololu, who amassed 59 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) appearances during his active years with the Oluyole Warriors, is expected to inject experience, tactical understanding, and leadership qualities into the squad. Club officials believe his presence offers a major advantage to the largely youthful team, especially as they continue to build momentum in the NPFL.
The former defender spent three seasons at the Ibadan-based outfit, where he played a pivotal role and became one of the squad’s most reliable figures. His elevation to a coaching position is widely regarded as a seamless next step in his football journey.
Given his deep understanding of Shooting Stars’ identity, values, and playing philosophy, Omololu is anticipated to contribute meaningfully to player development, team cohesion, and the overall technical direction of the club.
This new appointment highlights Shooting Stars’ ongoing effort to integrate former players into their technical setup, a move expected to enhance continuity, strengthen team culture, and enrich their quest for improved performances in the league.
