The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, has announced that Vice President Kashim Shettima will visit Jos, the Plateau State capital, to formally welcome a wave of prominent politicians who recently defected to the ruling party.
Prof. Nentawe made the disclosure during the APC Strategic Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Crest Hotel Conference Hall in Jos, describing the upcoming visit as a major event in the party’s ongoing consolidation drive across Plateau State.
According to him, the Vice President’s visit — scheduled to take place within the next two weeks — will mark another milestone in the APC’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure and expand its influence in the North Central region.
“We welcomed Mr. President about two weeks ago, and now we are preparing to welcome the Vice President,” Nentawe said. “This visit will be another moment of unity and strength for our great party.”
The APC National Chairman revealed that several high-profile dignitaries, including the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and a host of APC governors, are expected to accompany Vice President Shettima to the event.
“I have spoken with our governors, and many have confirmed their readiness to attend,” he said. “The Senate President and the Speaker have also agreed to be present — we’re going to have a full house again, back on the platform.”
To ensure smooth coordination, Prof. Nentawe announced the appointment of Architect P.D. Gyang as Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the grand reception, adding that other members of the committee would be unveiled soon.
He also highlighted the party’s ongoing social impact initiatives, noting that the APC recently concluded a medical outreach program facilitated by a team of doctors from the United States, which will now be sustained by local medical professionals for another week.
In addition, Nentawe disclosed that the party will launch a ₦100 million Business Challenge next Monday — a youth and small-business empowerment initiative designed to stimulate entrepreneurship across Plateau State.
“Under this program, beneficiaries will receive ₦1 million, ₦500,000, or ₦250,000 each to boost their existing businesses,” he explained.
The APC Chairman assured members that the party remains committed to rolling out impactful, citizen-focused programs aimed at deepening public engagement and maintaining its visibility ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We will continue to deliver initiatives that improve lives, empower our people, and keep the APC at the forefront of national development,” he stated.
