Amid renewed violence in Maiduguri, the Federal Government has vowed to intensify its fight against terrorism.
The multiple explosions, which struck parts of the Borno State capital earlier this week, left more than 100 people affected and over 20 confirmed dead.
Vice President, Kashim Shettima, described the attackers as barbaric, insisting that no grievance can justify the killing of innocent people.
On Wednesday, he visited survivors receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where he sympathised with victims and bereaved families. The Vice President was accompanied by Borno State Deputy Governor Usman Kadafur, NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar, and Chief Medical Director Ahmed Ahijo, among other officials.
He assured them of continued government support through the National Emergency Management Agency, the North East Development Commission, and the Borno State Government, while also stressing that security agencies have been directed to take decisive action, backed by increased investment in equipment and logistics.
