Former England goalkeeper Shay Given believes Arsenal are the best-placed side to win the Premier League this season, though he insists Manchester City cannot be discounted.
The ex-City shot-stopper said the title race is shaping up to be a three-horse contest involving Liverpool, Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s side.
Liverpool currently top the table by two points ahead of Arsenal, with City down in seventh but five points adrift of the leaders.
“You can’t rule Manchester City out of the title race this early in the season,” Given told Ladbrokes. “That’s probably because of Arsenal and Liverpool, and the squads they’ve built over the last few years. Everyone is talking about Arsenal and Liverpool.
“I do think City will be in for a great shout at the end of the season in the title race, I really do.”
However, Given feels Arsenal look the strongest right now.
“It’s difficult to say who wins it at this moment in time… but if I look at every squad in the cold light of day, then I’d say Arsenal are the ones to beat.”
