Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua and event planner Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe have captured national attention after tying the knot aboard a moving Lagos–Ibadan train, marking the first-ever wedding ceremony on a train in Nigeria.
The couple transformed the train’s interior into a breathtaking venue, complete with floral decorations, elegantly dressed bridesmaids and groomsmen, and officiating ministers who conducted the ceremony as the train journeyed between Lagos and Ibadan.
The event blended romance with innovation, creating a cinematic experience that quickly became the talk of social media.
In a celebratory post, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) hailed the couple’s creativity, writing:
“From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track. History made, the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination.”
The intimate celebration was attended by close family members, friends, and a few of Faqua’s industry colleagues. Videos and photos from the event have since gone viral, with many Nigerians praising the couple for redefining what a modern, adventurous wedding can look like.
The union not only celebrates love but also marks a symbolic milestone for the Nigerian transport system, blending romance, innovation, and a touch of cinematic flair on the tracks.
