Nigerian content creator Shank Comics, born Adesokan Emmanuel, has been named Best Streamer 2026 at the prestigious SiGMA Africa Awards, held on March 3 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The accolade was presented during the summit’s gala night, celebrating excellence in gaming, technology, and digital innovation across Africa. Guests at the high-profile event applauded the announcement, which recognises creators who excel in audience engagement and content consistency.
Organisers highlighted that the award underscores the growing impact of African digital talents, particularly from Nigeria, on the international streaming landscape.
Shank Comics first gained attention through short comedy skits depicting relatable Nigerian experiences. He later expanded into live streaming, building a strong online community through interactive sessions and collaborations. His global visibility grew through joint streams with international creators like iShowSpeed and Kai Cenat, broadening his audience beyond Africa.
Footage from the Cape Town ceremony showed the comedian accepting the plaque on stage, thanking fans and supporters for their continued encouragement. Social media quickly filled with congratulatory messages, although some questioned the timing of the recognition.
The SiGMA Africa Awards are part of a larger summit that highlights achievements in iGaming, emerging technology, and digital entrepreneurship, providing a platform for African innovators to gain continental and global recognition.
