The family of musician Shalkido, real name Kelvin Mburu Kinyanjui, has announced that his burial will take place on October 16, following his untimely death in a motorcycle accident earlier this week.
Shalkido, was involved in a serious crash on October 5 along Thika Road, between Githurai and Carwash, near Roysambu. Emergency responders found him critically injured by the roadside and rushed him to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH).
Media personality Oga Obinna, who had previously extended support to Shalkido following his appeal for financial assistance, confirmed that the musician had been declared brain-dead due to extensive internal bleeding. He later passed away while receiving treatment.

Speaking to journalists, a family member said the funeral will be held at KU Funeral Home, clarifying it is not the facility located on Thika Road.
“His burial will take place on October 16. We will move the body from KU Funeral Home, not the one on Thika Road,” the family member said.
The family also refuted circulating claims that anyone played a role in Shalkido’s death, insisting it was a matter of fate.
“We believe God has a plan for every life. There is no foul play or sacrifice involved. We want to give our son a peaceful send-off,” they added.
In a conversation with a YouTuber and content creator at the funeral home, Shalkido’s father, Stephen Mungai, reflected on their final discussion.
The musician had told him on Thursday, October 2, before the accident that he planned to return home on Sunday. Instead, the family received devastating news from a cousin around 7 am on the day of the crash.
The family is currently holding prayers in Ruiru, mourning the loss of the young artiste as they make preparations for his burial.
