Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay, has spoken on the critical role of father figures in raising the girl child, arguing that their presence often shapes stability, values, and decision-making in women’s lives.
The 39-year-old star shared her views during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, where she dismissed claims that “men are not important” in families as misleading and harmful.
“Most women who have a father figure in their lives are generally more stable. They had more access to good education and good morals growing up than the ones that don’t,” she said.
She added that fatherly influence often sets standards for marriage choices and male friendships.
“This whole narrative of men not being important is bullsh*t because it’s just an agenda for more divisions in our homes. It creates more broken souls and lost females and males,” Seyi Shay noted.
Reflecting on her personal journey, the singer expressed gratitude that she did not have a daughter in her 20s, saying she now feels more experienced and better prepared to guide her child.
According to her, the lessons she has learned will help her ensure her daughter avoids repeating mistakes in areas such as relationships, friendships, and personal growth.
