An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion has claimed the lives of several passengers traveling from Chibok to Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State. The incident occurred on Thursday when a 14-seater Sharon vehicle struck a planted IED suspected to have been laid by Boko Haram terrorists.
According to the person familiar with the incident, the explosion killed most of the passengers on board, including women and children.
TV360 News cannot independently verify the exact number of casualties at this time, but sources confirm that several lives were lost in the attack.
According to a source, “the explosion happened on Thursday evening and it involved a Sharon vehicle. Only two passengers managed to escape alive.”
The source further disclosed that troops of the Nigerian Army, along with other security operatives, successfully detonated three additional IEDs discovered in the area after the initial explosion.
As at the time of filling in this report, no official statement have been released by government officials or security agencies regarding the incident.
