300MMscfd facility begins operations after regulatory clearance, pipeline completion
Seplat Energy Plc has announced the successful delivery of first gas from its 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) Assa North–Ohaji South (ANOH) gas project, marking a major milestone for Nigeria’s gas development drive.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the company said the achievement followed the completion of the 11-kilometre Indorama gas export pipeline and the receipt of regulatory approval from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
According to Seplat, gas supply to Indorama Petrochemical Company commenced on Friday, January 16, 2026, under both firm and interruptible Gas Sales Agreements (GSAs) executed by the ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC).
To support the commencement of gas flow, four upstream wells, which had been on standby since November 2025, were brought into production.
“Since first gas, wet gas output has continued to stabilise, with between 40 and 52 MMscfd of processed gas being delivered directly from the ANOH gas plant to Indorama,” the company said.
Seplat disclosed that condensate production has reached between 2,000 and 2,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd) and is expected to rise further as gas throughput increases and the plant ramps up to its full design capacity.
The company also revealed that preparations are underway to commence processed gas deliveries to Nigeria LNG (NLNG) under an interruptible offtake arrangement. This, it said, would further support the scaling up of production towards the plant’s full capacity of 300 MMscfd.
Meanwhile, construction work on the OB3 pipeline, being handled by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) and originally designated as the main evacuation route for domestic gas supply from ANOH, has resumed. A revised completion timeline will be announced later, Seplat said.
The ANOH gas processing facility was developed by AGPC, an incorporated joint venture between Seplat Energy and NGIC.
The integrated plant comprises two 150 MMscfd gas processing trains, LPG recovery units, condensate stabilisation units, a 16-megawatt power plant, and associated infrastructure. The facility was designed to operate with zero routine gas flaring.
Located across the unitised OML 53 and OML 21 fields, the ANOH project is expected to unlock an estimated 4.6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of condensate-rich gas resources. Seplat’s working interest 2P reserves in the unitised field stood at 0.8 Tcf as of the end of 2024.
Seplat said it will generate value from the project through two revenue streams: wet gas sales from OML 53 to the ANOH plant and dividends from its 50 per cent equity stake in AGPC.
The company added that LPG output from ANOH, combined with production from its Sapele and Bonny River Terminal (BRT) facilities, will position Seplat as a leading domestic supplier of clean cooking fuel.
In addition, the ANOH plant will process previously flared gas from the Ohaji field, supporting Seplat’s End of Routine Flaring programme and advancing its sustainability objectives.
Seplat noted that the project was delivered with zero recordable Lost Time Incidents (LTI) over 17.5 million man-hours, underscoring a strong safety performance.
Commenting on the milestone, Roger Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Energy, described ANOH as a strategically important project for both Nigeria and the company.
“ANOH is the first of the seven critical gas projects identified by the Federal Government of Nigeria to come onstream,” Brown said.
“This is our third major onshore gas processing facility and raises our joint venture onshore gas processing capacity to over 850 MMscfd. The project will deliver strong income streams, lower our carbon intensity, and contribute significantly to our 2030 production target of 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
“Beyond the commercial impact, ANOH will expand access to power and clean cooking fuel for Nigerians, while supporting economic growth and energy security,” he added.
